EBSD Mission

The primary mission of the Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Study Design (EBSD) Core is to facilitate research productivity and stimulate innovative collaborations by leveraging vast existing osteoporosis and osteoarthritis study databases that have been collected in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics over the past 25 years. Archived clinical study resources include clinical data, images, biological samples and genetics databases. We will combine existing resources with EB Core data analysis and biostatistics expertise to collaborate and create new research projects.

Specific goals of the EBSD Core include:

  • Make large osteoporosis and osteoarthritis longitudinal databases available to test hypothesis and techniques regarding pathogenesis, risk factors and diagnosis of bone and joint diseases.
  • Provide consulting on the design and analysis of research proposals.
  • Provide support for statistical analysis of genetic and proteomic preclinical and clinical data through the EB Bioinformatics Group.
  • Train the CCMBM community on good research design and study execution.
  • Encourage and participate in collaboration among basic, translational, and clinical research in bone and joint disease.
